Ever since I went to LA, my life-long goal is to be a California girl... Clearly, this is never gonna happen cos the reality is, I'm a 35-year-old mum who lives in the West Midlands and rarely leaves the house.
Everyone feels better when they have seen the sun, but sometimes it's just not possible to get a good dose of that all important vitamin D so, we have to fake it instead.
Y'see, it's not just about palm trees and endless sunshine, it's about the glow... 'sunkissed skin so hot, it will melt your popsicle'... y'know.
If you've failed to miss them, Benefit, the iconic cosmetics brand gained cult status as a result of its amazing products and cutesy-cool packaging, made to look good on any dressing table.
The Get Glowing Set is no exception.
The 5 piece kit contains a full sized bottle of Sun Beam complexion highlighter, described as 'liquid sunshine in a bottle'... this item alone is worth its weight in gold.
Over the years, my makeup bag staples have included 2 of Benefit's most iconic lines - High Beam and Hoola. I challenge anyone to find a better highlighting and bronzing combo than that, but a few dabs of Sun Beam carefully blended onto your usual strobing areas, creates the illusion of natural, sunkissed skin... throw in the odd fake freckle (as I like to do) and you can fool anyone into thinking that you have actually seen the light of day.
The California blusher was new to me, but I could see from its perfectly peachy-pink tone and golden halo that we were going to get along just fine.
The colour is so subtle... like a kiss on the cheeks for any complexion. As with all Benefit products, it smells divine too.
The set contains a couple of travel sized products, including Roller Lash and the Moisture Prep toning lotion.
I like Roller Lash for its curved wand that helps lift and curl the lash, however, I do prefer a more buildable mascara so I tend to layer this over another one for a chunkier look.
The Moisture Prep is something I would definitely consider buying again. I don't wear much makeup day to day so my skincare routine is pretty basic.... micellar water and coconut oil.
I do get a tiny dry patch of skin on of my cheeks and this has definitely improved in the week that I've been using this product. It's designed to prep the skin for moisturiser so that you get the maximum benefit and again, it smells soooo good!
To top it all off, the Benefit Get Glowing Set comes with a super-cute passport holder for the summer holiday that you are inevitably gonna wanna book to complete the look.
The set is currently exclusive to ASOS Beauty. You can buy it here and save 20% !!!
