Come on... there is nothing we all love more than a makeup artist's recommendation. Whether it's the best tools of the trade, products or top beauty secrets.... we wanna know!
I spoke to Sheffield lass, Laura Gingell of Craft Makeup, a makeup artist who uses her fashion and editorial experience to bring bridal makeup BANG up to date!
TALK US THROUGH THE MOST IMPORTANT ITEMS IN YOUR KIT AND WHY?
It's all about the brushes!
All makeup, from high end to budget can be made to look great with the right brushes.
My personal favourites are My Kit Co, MAC and Zoeva.
Skin is so important too. I need products that make the skin look flawless without looking cakey.
Nars Sheerglow foundation, MAC Prolongwear concealer and Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion foundation are my current favourites.
When it comes to bridal makeup, it's all about the lips... they really finish off the look.
Every bride is different but you can't beat a perfect nude. My 'go to' nudes are MAC 'Kinda Sexy', MAC 'Mehr', NARS 'Dolce Vita', Charlotte Tilbury 'Bitch Perfect', Maybelline 'Nude Embrace' and Bobby Brown 'Raisin Berry'.
I need beautiful tones to make the eyes pop and I'm obsessed with ready-made palette at the moment as seeing them displayed together gives you inspiration.
Right now, I'm loving Smashbox 'Full Exposure', Violet Voss 'Holy Grail', Zoeva 'Carmel Melange' and Charlotte Tilbury 'Dolce Vita'.
ARE YOU NOTICING ANY TRENDS IN BRIDAL MAKEUP AT THE MOMENT?
Skin and glitter!
Brides are really focusing on skin and want it to look amazing!
This is the first year that I've found brides really embracing the glitter, which I love! Sometimes just a bit of glitter in the corner of the eye is all you need to add a touch of 'cool'.
WHAT LOOKS/TRENDS DO YOU TRY TO STEER BRIDES AWAY FROM AND WHY?
Too much contouring and highlight.
Everyone looks great with a bit of sculpting but there is a tendency to wear too much. Some makeup may look great on camera but is too much in real-life.
No bride wants to be remembered for wearing too much makeup on her wedding day!
BEST BUDGET BUY?
I'm absolutely loving Loreal True Match concealer at the moment. It's lightweight texture is perfect for under eye dark circles and to brighten.
LET'S TALK CELEBRITY BRIDE STYLE... WHO NAILED IT IN YOUR OPINION?
Who looks cooler than Bianca Jagger on her wedding day in 1971 in her white YSL Le Smoking Jacket?.... no one!
For a more modern day look? Kate Moss. She had the right mix of rock n roll and boho vibes.
IF YOU COULD PASS ON 1 BEAUTY TIP, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Makeup always looks better when skin is prepped. No makeup will look good on dull, lifeless skin.
I like to use an exfoliator, Mac Volcanic Ash Exfoliator is amazing.
Embryolisse moisturising products are a 'go to' for the face and under eye area.
Avene water spray is great for hydrating the skin and Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow primer is an amazing product to make foundation look smoother, last longer and give skin a natural glow.
THE AGE OLD DESERT ISLAND CONUNDRUM... WHAT ARE YOUR 3 PRODUCTS?
MAC Upward Lash mascara for big, bad lashes!
Nars Orgasm blusher. There's a reason why it's their no1 seller.
Charlotte Tilbury in 'Tell Laura', the BEST orangey red shade ever!
WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE BRIDAL LOOK TO DO?
Anything with a glamorous twist.
I think bridal makeup is very Hollywood. If I can imagine a bride attending The Oscars then I know I have done a good job!
WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION FROM FOR BRIDAL LOOKS?
Everywhere! ... Fashion Week, magazine, Instagram, high profile celebs and the of course, the bride herself!
