Interview by Ellie Kime
So you’ve spent ages pinning, prepping, and perfecting your wedding plans, and the countdown is on – which probably means it’s time for your hen party! But with such a stylish wedding in the pipeline, the idea of a tacky, mortifying hen do with more penises than you can shake a stick at may make you want to stay at home.
Don’t worry, things are changing. Team Hen is the one-stop online shop for your stylish hen party. Goodbye willy straws, it's been nice knowing you.
Hiya Danielle! Having been part of the journey for a fair few people’s: what’s your top advice for brides on their hen do?
Enjoy the ride! It’s all too easy to get caught up in the details and worry if all your guests are having a good time. Go with the flow, ignore any issues and enjoy yourself!
Why did you set Team Hen up?
My best friend asked me to organise her hen party, and there was just nothing suitable in terms of accessories, decorations or favours on the market. Everything was garish and over the top. I designed a few bits for her do, and they were a real hit. I was on maternity leave at the time, and started to sell them - they began to take off and a few designs turned to many. Here we are nearly 5 years later and have over 200 products in our online shop, with new products launching all the time.
And what’s your top advice for the hens tasked with planning it, if they’re not doing it themselves?
It’s likely you’ll be asked to organise with another member of the bridal party, so make sure you’re on the same page. First, confer with the bride on what type of hen party she wants and the guest list – it is her day, after all!
Then divide the major tasks between you so that you’re not stepping on each other’s toes. Set the budget early on, and give everyone plenty of time to make payment; installments are always a winner, as it allows the group to budget. Outline the specifics of what is included in the price - nobody wants any last minute surprises. And for the actual day itself: games go a long way to breaking the ice!
What’s the biggest myth about hen dos that you wish people knew wasn’t true?
Hen parties needn’t be embarrassing. You don’t have to dress up in a neon tutu with an inflatable penis and flashing head boppers to have a good time.
You also don’t have to spend a fortune, or go to Marbs - a weekend in your hometown, surrounded by your best friends will be much more fun than watching the pennies or spending your weekend traveling.

My hen do was pretty close to perfect, for me - and that’s the key; making it perfect for the Bride.
Cocktails & Indoor Crazy Golf - a daytime drinking session, perfect for anyone with young children who can’t make nights out. Glam Makeover at Benefit - nibbles, champagne, and makeup. Perfection!... Dinner at my favourite Mexican restaurant - including my closest male friends, as they are a huge part of my life - sod the 'girls only’ tradition! And then clubbing with a private area at a central London club - dance the night away.
What’s your favorite hen accessory from the Team Hen store?
Ooh, that’s a tricky one! My current favourite items have to be our “bride tribe’ hen party goody bag fillers - they contain everything you need for your hen night; hair tie, lip gloss, tattoo, wish bracelet, badge & sweets - ready to pop in a hen party goody bag!
