WOW!

The Un-Wedding Show London was back for our 1st wedding fair of 2023 on 11th + 12 February and oh my, it was our best event yet!

Famed for putting the ‘PARTY’ into your wedding planning, this event was no exception! We welcomed almost 800 attendees into the arches of Shoreditch Studios, over the course of the weekend, introducing them to a selection of the UK’s coolest, independent wedding suppliers.

Were you there?

If so, then thanks to you, we were able to donate $2000 from our ticket sales to VOW For Girls to help put a stop to child marriage. This is our 2nd year supporting the charity which ensure that 100% of funds raised go directly to underfunded yet effective local organisations that advance girls’ rights by providing education, job training, and vital life skills. The funds we raised with this event are enough to cover the costs for one young woman to receive job training or help her start a small business, so thank you!

A wedding fair that’s right for you.

If you’re familiar with The Un-Wedding Show then you’ll know that our wedding fairs are carefully curated especially for our attendees. This means you’ll only find unique, independent vendors who’ll inspire you to plan the wedding you want and not the one you are told to/expected to have. All of our events take place in alternative wedding venues and air on the side of ‘intimacy’ over ‘overwhelm’ because we get it, there are a lot of choices out there, and we’re here to make planning your Un-Wedding easier, not harder! The Un-Wedding Show helps you cut to the chase when it comes to finding the right suppliers for your wedding. You won’t find us filling out big, corporate, soulless spaces with businesses who want to sell you diet pills and teeth-whitening solutions. We want all of our attendees to leave feeling good about themselves and excited to start planning their Un-Wedding!

Suppliers who match your personality!

We’re BIG on personality at The Un-Wedding Show and see our suppliers’ awesome businesses as an extension of their personality because let’s face it, that’s the main reason you fall in love and book them, right? It’s always so humbling to see the effort our suppliers go to in order to showcase their services and wares at their absolute best and this event was no exception! And it’s great to see so many of you genuinely engaging in conversation with our suppliers because there’s nothing worse than attending a wedding fair where no one wants to make eye contact because they already know there’s no connection, right?!

Putting the party into your wedding planning.

We all know the formula for a great party - good people, tasty food, great drinks, and music! The Un-Wedding Show followed this formula to a T with delicious street food from Mexican Seoul served up in the courtyard at Shoreditch Studios, alongside our pals, The Hush Club, who were serving up the cocktails and the TUNES all weekend from their giant disco ball cocktail bar! YES! You heard that right… a giant disco ball cocktail bar that comes with its own DJ! And YES, everything you see at The Un-Wedding Show is available to hire for your own Un-Wedding, including the giant sequin LOVE letters from My Colour Is Gold that stole the show! Have you ever seen anything cooler when it comes to unique wedding props?!

Unique ideas for your wedding.

Introducing you to the weird and wonderful is what The Un-Wedding Show is all about. We pride ourselves on curating the best selection of the UK’s most unique, independent wedding suppliers so that you can really personalise your wedding and treat your guests to a bespoke experience that they won’t have encountered at previous weddings.

Some highlights of this event include the INCREDIBLE Rubbish Portraits by Lucie Sheridan. Lucie’s stunning booth is a real show-stopper at any wedding or event. Lucie gives you and your guests the opportunity to step inside her stylish and quirky booth and sit for a 3-minute portrait which is then presented to you, as a gift to cherish forever as a memento of your special day. A charming alternative to the traditional photo booth and a real conversation starter!

‘My booth is often described as a confessional box..it’s quite intimate sat in a booth with one other person. It’s no surprise people tell me their problems and secrets and I am fully unqualified in helping them!’

From immersive portrait experiences to silent discos inside the ‘miniature of sound’ by Beautiful Bells, to custom love songs written especially for you to tell your love story, our first event of 2023 had so much to offer in terms of new ideas and fresh inspiration for your wedding.

Who else loves the new rebrand from I Just Called To Say, formerly the Big Red Box Audio Guest Book? And don’t worry, the iconic, life-sized red telephone box is still available to hire for those of you down south, only now, you can choose from a series of drop-dead gorgeous vintage telephones to record messages from your loved ones, no matter where you are based in the UK. If this isn’t the cutest and coolest alternative to the traditional wedding guest book, then I don’t know what is?!

Sisters Of The Bride aka S.O.B wowed us all with their playful array of upcycled signage and props that are available to hire for your event. As with many Un-Wedding businesses, S.O.B was born as the result of a real-life Un-Wedding when co-founder, Sally (the bride) and bff Sophie decided to fill a gap that no one else was, and design and make their own props that can be personalised for you and your wedding.

It’s always nice to welcome Sylvie Signs to the line-up but this time was super-special as sign-writer, Esther, had been running a HUGE giveaway on the run up to the event for one lucky couple to win their bespoke wedding signage and collect it from the show! Congratulations Flo & Saul!

I’m always really excited to see Esther’s new work IRL, the lines, the colours, the textures… this year’s gigantic ‘LOVE IS THE DRUG’ sign complete with gold and terrazzo style shadow was next level, alongside her hanging arch of positivity pieces… HELL YEAH! FOR SURE!… Yes Please! It’s safe to say ‘I want them all’!

And no party would be complete without the EPIC Streamadelica! I mean, even the name gets you in the mood for a party, right?! We’ve been huge fans of Yorkshire-based, Streamadelica since they first showcased at The Un-Wedding Show Leeds in 2019 and oh my, have they gone from strength to strength since then, covering the whole of the UK with their flamboyant streamer installations and backdrops! As with many of our suppliers, Streamadelica strives to be a zero-waste business so you can party, guilt free!

‘We aim to make your event décor waste-free – so everything is reused again and again, including the cable ties. We aim to throw nothing away – the production offcuts are used as art materials for craft groups and preschools and we reuse our postage boxes. We’re not perfect but we’re always looking at ways that we can limit our impact on the environment and will never claim that our products are more environmentally friendly than they really are. Greenwashing is rife in the party décor industry and we hate it.’
