Helping modern couples plan their Un-Wedding since 2015!

Having an Un-Wedding is about filling your wedding day with things you truly love and not what you’re told you should have. Sorry mum, but chair covers are not a vibe.

Since we launched in 2015, we’ve introduced 8000+ couples to hundreds of the UK’s coolest independent wedding suppliers, through our online supplier directory, Book Of Love, and our famous live events, The Un-Wedding Show.

We aim to turn the wedding industry upside down and give modern couples the tools and the courage they need to do what the f*ck they want on their wedding day!

Stop following outdated traditions, and make new traditions instead!

Meet The Founder

Melissa Woods, founder of The Un-Wedding

Hey! I’m Melissa, the founder of The Un-Wedding.

It all started back in 2014, I was working as a wedding make-up artist and I realised that all of my clients seemed to be having the exact, same wedding. It felt like no one wanted to break tradition, even if it meant going against their personal taste and doing things they wouldn’t usually do… wearing stuff they wouldn’t normally wear…

… Thinking back to my own wedding day in 2012, we’d kinda done that too.

Our wedding was way more traditional than we are! I married Ben in a beautiful stained-glass church in London. I come from an all-Catholic family, so I don’t think any other options ever came into question!

We basically did what other people told us we should do… we’d never been married before, so who were we to argue?!

I mean, we made a few unconventional decisions with our wedding plans, like not having a cake, or any flowers — I seem to remember that raised a few eyebrows… But truthfully if we could do the day all over again, we’d give less f*cks about trying to please other people and make it even more personal to us.

Why should brides have to wear those white pointy satin shoes if they don’t like them? (I didn’t wear white pointy shoes btw… I drew the line at that…)

Wnd who says you have to wear white anyway?

And why does it matter if your guests wear white?!

Don’t get me wrong, traditional weddings are great, but what if that’s just not you?

I want to give more couples the courage and freedom to stop following outdated traditions and personalise their weddings instead.

I know all too well how hard it can be hard to find cool wedding ideas and alternative suppliers, so I brought them all together on one platform to make planning your modern wedding, easier, and more fun!

Now go forth, and make new traditions!

Love Forever, Melissa 💋
